More than what i have to give
Is less than you deserve
If i could make this dream come true
If i could find the nerve

The clamour of awkward silence
Interspersed with clumsy stutter
Mincing words and serving up
On rice, long-glazed in butter

O butter of false motives
So bitter yet so sweet
For one as me to secure
One as you, a daring feat

When that night, dispatch of dreams
Reared its head, adorned and crowned
Expectations drew to head
Eyes appear to eye around
For the eyes that can't be found
Where once a smile had lain
Now affixed a saddened frown

O butter of false motives
So bitter yet so sweet?
For one as me to secure
one as you, a trick? or treat?
