I heard Jesus on the street today,
Seeking coins from passers by.
Embarrassed I turned away,
Half-hearted mumbling a reply

I saw Jesus on the street today,
Sitting with his cardboard sign.
I didn't stop to speak or listen,
How could I spare the time?

I feel Jesus on the street today,
Placing his will on my heart.
And now I've come to realise,
I'm just like Jonah at the start.

Don't fight the past
Forge a new tomorrow

Monday, October 29, 2012

It's not perfection, but perfection's not my aim.
In the end it is just a piece of paper, all the same.
What is failure but a springboard to new things.
Perhaps not failing is the chief-est of all sins.

Beacon the dream
Living the past
Falling through
But time passes
Swifter still

Pedal through Tuesdays
A month holds no memories

Capture the sunrise
In the palm of your hand
With arm outstretched
And toes in the sand
I never understood
Why we'd never talk
But now it's finally clear
That I was never there

A friendship, created not found,
Takes sacrifice, and more than a pound
Of flesh and blood, of sweat and tears.
A friendship that spans both months and years.

A friendship, created not found,
I'll try next time around.

Step out from my little space,
Extend an arm, a smiling face.
Put a face to a name, to you.
Make you feel included too.

I'm sorry for when I have not,
Blaming your name which I forgot.
Or not having even spoken once.
Trapped in my own significance.

Lord help me grow the courage to be,
In this respect more like a Penty.
To act upon each opportunity,
To let your father heart flow through me.

I know a girl named Karen,
Though we've never met before.
Third a world away, she's turnin',
Four years shy of twenty-four.

In her cosplay, none can match,
With Josiah by her side.
"Over 9000!" there's no catch,
A love level they can't hide.

So Merry Happy Birthday!
From this part of the world.
God's blessing as you display,
His amazing love unfurled.
Don't be afraid, but rather; bold.
Question the words of fathers old.
Don't blindly accept what they had to say,
To paint with black and white what's grey.

Don't be afraid to write new words,
A song of thanks or prayer for hurts.
To express in old and new ways too,
What God and sundry mean for you.

Crowded in, surrounded by,
Anxious expectations, nigh.
Prayer whispered, heaven bound,
Set my feet on solid ground.

Monday, October 15, 2012

Friendship isn't second-rate,
Just friends (or more), not the debate.
Self-sacrifice, the lover's trait,
Lets friendship be for friendship's sake.

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Unpick the stitches, tear at the seams,
Try to understand what these feelings mean.
A release of chemicals or something more?
I think I knew once, but now I'm not so sure.
Sorry for expectations
with which I've burdened you.
Selfishly unfair
and impossible too.
Even if the lengthy list
was based upon you.
If I apply them to myself
I fail through and through.

Dip the brush, smear the page
Cover everything with rage
Deny the emptiness within
The ugly aftermath of sin

Friday, October 12, 2012

Hide the moon, unless it shines
The milky, mountainous its size
Erase the stars, before they fall
Floating dreamers, one and all.

Thursday, October 11, 2012

On the face of tomorrow
A smiling sunset laughs
Blinking out orisons
Since the yawning of time

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

A choice on no merits:
A grace that inherits.
A gift from above:
Unconditional love.

You always know which keys to play
Deft fingers speak more than you say
Your melody has found a way
My self-contentedness to slay.

The flicker of your eyelids
The shimmer of your smile
In the end my time will come
Although it's been a while
Although it's been a while
An invitation
from the Father of mankind
to become human

I'm blind in that I cannot see
The inner you objectively.
A warming face has blocked the way
I smile at everything you say.
